Shri Shivabalayogi Maharaj performed twelve years of intense tapas in solitude and spent the rest of his life giving meditation to all who came — asking nothing in return.
Born in the small village of Adivarapupeta in south India, he experienced samadhi at the age of fourteen and remained absorbed in deep meditation for the next twelve years, emerging in 1961 as a Self-realized yogi.
For more than three decades he travelled across India, Sri Lanka, England and the United States, initiating hundreds of thousands into meditation.
He described his work as reducing the tensions of the world. It took four forms.
Sharing his Self-realization simply through his silent presence.
Empowering meditation practice for anyone, through initiation.
Giving direct spiritual experience — the spirit touched while the mind rests.
Facilitating the healing of body and mind for those who sought it.
The outside guru is a yogi. He guides and shows you the path. The inner guru is God.— Shri Shivabalayogi Maharaj
Since his mahasamadhi, devotees continue to experience his living presence wherever meditation is practised in his name.
